Does the system record video, or does it only operate in "live" mode? If it doesn't record, can the camera be tied into Blue Iris or similar to record an annotated (with temperatures etc.) stream?

yes, live mode, can record locally on PC. Just get one from the market to play. Dahua's kit we also can get. They have local support and local stocks in USA.
