Egh, I don't like buying used or refurbished computers. They already only last 4-5 years, and I don't know for sure how long the previous person used them.
The dell "refurbished" systems are basically new..they are mostly customer returns. They are built exceptionally well and come with a 3 year next business days warranty. I have been buying refurbished dell and used hp business machines for years. I have NEVER had an issue NEVER. Only issue I had was a lenovo laptop that was covered under warranty. Im talking about at least 50 machines, probably more. Many of them running
blue iris 24/7. Spending more money is a waste.
Tech support from dell business or hp business is amazing. Need OS disks? they will overnight them FREE. Need tech support? No long holds.
Computers last WAY longer than 4-5 years...not sure where you are getting that from..most simply replace them because they want better performance/power consumption. Also keep in mind that you use the processor to determine the maximum the pc was used. For example, take an i5-4590 they were released q2 2014. Figure it took dell some time to put these into production and the fact that a system purchased today has not been used in at least 2-3 months you are looking at max one year. In reality, the machines are brand spanking new, with not a scratch on them. You could not tell the difference between a refurb and new. Most were returned within the 30 day return window.
The 3 year next business day warranty is great for a VMS because you can be up and running the very next day.
With the HP machines you can check the in service date with the serial number..I have purchased many that were no more than 3 months old. These are business machines, some kid is not gaming on them. You cannot beat 300 bux.
Many here on the forum have taken my advice and are very happy. Better spend the money on superior cameras. The machine you linked to is WAY under powered. Its benchmarks in the 900's which is a joke. I would take a dell/hp business class system over a no name assembler any day.
Another alternative if you insist on new is this ts140 thinkserver for 285, you will have to add the OS and hard drive
