Sorry for the long title, currently running several of the original 5442 turrets and varifocal bullets. The 5849 180 degree units in 3.6mm appear to use a similar (same?) sensor.

Other than potential for fish eye effect on stitched images, what are thoughts on these units from those who have used both (including old 5442) to compare.

The 180 degree has me curious!

Thanks in advance.

5849 use tech from Full Color models (5449).. I have one cam and I have some problems.. First SMD/IVS didn't work in middle of image (only 1/3 and 2/3 of width). Plus strange ratio of image and objects on it. I didn't liked... Finally switched to 5442-S3 with 2.8 optics..

The only one thing which I miss from 180 degree cam was built-in speaker.. Very nice feat.

And the 180 camera cannot see infrared so you either need to have enough light or be willing to use the built in white light.

Interesting, thanks for that information, 180 coverage I like but no such thing as a free lunch potentially!

Damn, I missed that altogether! annoying, was assuming they were dual IR and white light, shame, that means no go I feel since current 5442's are in areas without any other light source.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Liked the look of the 'new' PTZ SD3E405DB-GNY-A-PV1 but they use smaller sensor, guessing that will make the low light suffer too much. Somehow missed these newer releases, been out of the loop lately.
