I am NOT a programmer at all, so I don't know if it's even remotely possible, But TightVNC has a video output module that I believe encodes a Mjpeg stream through some java code. Would it be hard to have some way to connect Blue Iris to that mjpeg stream for a free, low CPU solution to desktop recording?

There are currently some CPU expensive, IRL expensive, or some complicated solutions to desktop recording to Blue Iris, But being able to point BI to an open source desktop streaming protocol like TightVNC might be really useful to the community as a cross-platform solution that basically already exists.

I'm sure i'm not the first to mention/think of this, but I can't find anything in searches for it. Thanks for any feedback!

As long as the mjpeg stream is served by http then I don't see why it would not work to add the stream URL as a new mjpeg camera.

Yea, that's where my knowledge drops off. I don't code, so i can't see 'how' it works myself or how to find out if it's even possible.

Honestly, i'd assume it'd need to be some sort of plugin that you'd have to install on BI to then add TightVNC servers as a default camera and point to IP:Port and login for the java applet to translate.

Probably just dreaming. :-)
