Turret side mount outdoor?

Hi,

I was planning to mount my turret cameras on the side - mainly since it looks nicer:

Before actually mounting them, I wonder if this works properly in the middle of a high wall with hardly any protection of a roof overhang. Will this be an issue, e.g. with rain?

If possible, I would really like to avoid having to mount them like this, which to my eyes looks way less nice (and I already bought the other mount):


Any real experiment would help, thanks!

I might two of my cameras exactly like in the first photo.
They have some protection from the elements but not much.
They're under a small overhang. Maybe 30cm.

They've been out there for a couple of years now. Still going strong.

Just keep the plug out of the weather and you should be right.

I have five cameras mounted like the first photo, not under an overhang, and have zero issues from any.

Four are mounted on a fence and the other is on the side of the house.

You can see one in the upper right.
