So I decided to update my original IPC-HDW5231RP-Z 2MP STARLIGHTS TO THE NEW IPC-T5442TM-AS 4MP Starlights and thought i'd post some comparison pictures to help out those that are on the fence. The added pixels not only give me a better picture but also cover more area. The cameras stay in color about 2 hours longer than the older ones and the IR isnt even triggered on the front yard one anymore with the new camera.

Awesome. The resolution and color gamut is much better than what you had. Is it a higher bitrate as well?

It may be, I'm not 100% sure. I did leave everything at default so that was left up to the current firmware.

I did the same for my front yard cam!
Going from 1/2.8" to 1/1.8" makes a big diff in the image quality & amount of light needed to reproduce good images.
Thus the added 'daytime' viewing.

You need to go in and check/set bitrate, exposure etc on each camera.
You're right I have to check those before I forget. I did look at some of the recorded video and everything seemed adequate. No ghosting from exposure.

I could use the 2mp cameras in other areas.
I will probably wait a bit, maybe for some varios, if they will show up.

Is it just me or does the pick-up truck look blue in the 2mp pic and kind of green in the 4mp pic?

The pickup looks green in both to me but with the higher res more green.

Just looked at the comparison pics and if you zoom into the barrel or the side of the pickup you can see what the extra resolution gives you.
