^ I am hoping the FIT will decrease, but I doubt that it will ever go away. Just look at how much debt still has to be paid. Even if they slash the fed budget in half, get rid of a shit-ton of fed agencies and employees, it will still have to have income to offset those expenses. Just for the military alone. They will never get enough income from tariffs to do that. I really think he is using the tariffs to force the hands of other gov'ts to do what he wants. I am fine with that. It seems to be working. No one wants to FAFO with him.

Is Mexico smart enough to know that's not going to be enough? There's the question of trade imbalance. Mexico has one month to start buying more American products.

I can't remember the last time going two full weeks of so much joy. I think there's a bounce in my step now, certainly a smile on my face. In fact I think I probably lost weight and am better looking now.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is traveling through Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic as he represents President Trump and the new administration. He’s doing great.

Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered remarks to reporters in El Salvador discussing his role as Acting Director of USAID after President Trump and Elon Musk moved to incorporate USAID into the State Department. Secretary Rubio repeated that USAID must align with U.S. foreign policy and the national interests of the U.S. government.

Citing the “uncooperative” nature of the USAID leadership acting as an independent entity, Secretary Rubio announced he is now Acting Director of USAID with the intention of removing all elements who operate against the direct U.S. interests he outlined. Additionally, Secretary Rubio affirmed the positive nature of President Trump’s call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum

Well, he can wipe income tax out if a federal sales tax is implemented instead. That would force the States to follow suit, and capture some of the off book revenue that’s currently lost through income tax.

It needs to happen fast though. Then if tariffs are dropped or the government want more money, it’s got to Jack the sales tax and the 50%ish that don’t even have to currently pay income taxes will vote out whoever raises it.

It would help to curb government growth and pork barrel stuff.

The Swamp purge continues as dozens of Education Department employees were placed on leave, according to reports.

CNN first reported the news of the administrative leave, noting that it is connected to the Trump administration’s goal of putting an end to wasteful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the federal workforce.

“Effective January 31, 2025, you will be placed on administrative leave with full pay and benefits pursuant to the President’s executive order on DEIA and further guidance from OPM,” the letter sent to affected employees states, making it clear the administrative leave is not related to disciplinary measures.
