US Elections (& Politics) :)

I just read that the USPS has rescinded that order. They will now be taking packages from China.
Yes, they just start to collect the tax on all shipment from China , so they need to pending the shipment and need a little time to process it.

Whistleblower office finds illegal retaliation against IRS agents in Hunter Biden case

The federal whistleblower protection agency has concluded the IRS wrongly retaliated against two agents who blew the whistle on political interference in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation and may have violated federal law by trying to gag the agents from disclosing wrongdoing, according to correspondence to Congress made public Wednesday.

The Empower Oversight whistleblower center, which represented one of the agents, Gary Shapley, disclosed the findings of the Office of Special Counsel in a letter sent to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

Empower Oversight had filed a complaint with OSC in May 2023 alleging that Shapley and his colleague, IRS agent Joseph Ziegler, had been removed from the Hunter Biden case for blowing the whistle and later had received communications prohibiting them from further communicating concerns about wrongdoing and political meddling in the case.

Those concerns were validated by OSC, Empower Oversight President Tristan Leavitt wrote Grassley.

“OSC confirmed in a December 30, 2024 email to counsel for the whistleblowers that it found the IRS issued illegal gag orders and improperly removed them from the Hunter Biden investigation as reprisal for their protected disclosures,” Leavitt wrote.

US federal employees fear mass firings as Thursday buyout deadline nears [40,000!]

Fearful U.S. government workers weighed whether to take a buyout offer from the Trump administration ahead of a Thursday deadline, as officials pressed ahead with a restructuring effort that could dramatically shrink the U.S. civil service.

Federal worker unions urged their members not to take the offers and said they may not be legal, despite administration assurances. The unions sued to block the offer, with a court hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday (1800 GMT).

At least 40,000 have taken the deal so far, according to a White House source, about 2% of the government's 2.3 million civilian workforce.

President Donald Trump has deputized his billionaire adviser Elon Musk to lead the overhaul, which has sparked protests and accusations by opposition Democrats that the world's richest person is taking over the government.

Musk's team at the Department of Government Efficiency has stirred security and privacy concerns as it has demanded to see classified materials and examined payment records at the Treasury Department.

A White House official told Reuters that Musk and his engineers have appropriate security clearances and can see payment data but do not have the power to change it. Musk and his team are operating in "full compliance with federal law, appropriate security clearances, and as employees of the relevant agencies, not as outside advisors or entities," the White House official said.

As the Thursday deadline approached, the Trump administration has repeated its warning that most federal agencies are likely to be downsized, a message seen by workers as pressure to accept the buyout offer. Some 116,000 workers left government service in the 2023 fiscal year, according to the Partnership for Public Service, a nonprofit.

WHOA! Democrats Barge Into Speaker Johnson’s Office, Confront Him About Musk’s DOGE Team Gaining Access to Treasury Dept Payment System

According to Politico, Democrat Reps. Judy Chu (D-CA) and Gwen Moore (D-WI) marched into Speaker Johnson’s office unannounced and demanded answers on Musk’s DOGE team.

Politico reported:

Reps. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) and Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) barged into House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office unscheduled on Wednesday and challenged him about Elon Musk’s team gaining access to a sensitive payment system at the Treasury Department.

Their intrusion, amid an escalation of Democratic backlash against Musk’s sweep through the federal government, came shortly after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent arrived at the speaker’s office to discuss how to implement President Donald Trump’s tax agenda.

However, Moore said that Bessent was not in the room when she and Chu confronted Johnson.

“Gwen Moore forced her way in there, and then I got to go in right behind her,” Chu told reporters. “And she was already confronting Speaker Johnson about Treasury Secretary Bessent and the stealing of Americans’ private information, tax information that should never be stolen and given to this billionaire Elon Musk.”

My Comment: Oh, the irony of Politico reporting on this story. Bwahahahahaha

What about the 87K new IRS agents? Send them down to the border or give them a pink slip?

I think the Trump statement regarding Garza might be a strategy of "Oh, you don't like my idea?.... Let's hear your idea that isn't the same tired and pointless/fruitless idea". This might force the middle eastern powers to put up or shut up. Brilliant!
Like I said...LOL...no better ideas?
