Judge won't block Musk and DOGE from accessing data, making cuts at 7 federal agencies
Washington — A federal judge on Tuesday declined to stop Elon Musk and the White House's Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, from accessing data systems at seven federal agencies and firing or putting their employees on leave.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected a request for a temporary restraining order sought by 14 Democrat-led states as they pursue a challenge to Musk's actions. The states have argued that Musk, who the White House said is categorized as a special government employee, has unchecked authority and is violating the Constitution's Appointments Clause.
But in a 10-page decision, Chutkan found that the states have failed to show that they will suffer imminent, irreparable harm without relief.

I will admit the first few days after Vance was selected as VP running mate, I wasn't sure. Unsure no longer. He was the perfect pick.
The news about the 21 million SS numbers being held by people over 100 years old and listed as alive is strange. But what has not been stated is, are they being paid? If so, how much? Just say that each one gets about $1800/month. That would be about $453.6 billion a year. Now that is some serious change.
With over 330 million SS numbers assigned to citizens, that is 6% of the numbers. My DOB was listed incorrectly for a year. It was fine for about 40 years and then one year it was wrong. They corrected it once I found out and reported it. Took some paperwork. It was in the months digit, but it just as well could have been the years digit and maybe I would be over 100 years old.
This does not necessarily have to be fraud. It could just be good old government incompetence, and somehow 6% incompetence seems quite low to me. Or it could be a combination. If there are that many listed in error for over 100 yo, then how many of the other numbers are correct? It would be nice to know how many are false. I know they give numbers to non-citizens. If you have a green card and hold a job, you have to have SS deducted. My German foreign exchange student got one back in the late '90s so she could get a driver's license.

Circuit court puts final nail in the coffin for Biden's $500M student loan forgiveness plan
The U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals put a final end to former President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan on Tuesday.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey originally sued the Biden administration over its $500 million effort to wipe away student loans, known as the SAVE plan. The court's Tuesday ruling found that Biden's secretary of education had "gone well beyond this authority by designing a plan where loans are largely forgiven rather than repaid."
Bailey noted in a statement that the ruling has no active impact beyond blocking future presidents from attempting Biden's maneuver.
"Though Joe Biden is out of office, this precedent is imperative to ensuring a President cannot force working Americans to foot the bill for someone else's Ivy League debt," Bailey said in a statement.
The Supreme Court of the United States denied the Biden administration’s request to lift a block on the SAVE plan last year. A federal appeals court in Missouri had earlier blocked the entire SAVE program from being enforced while litigation over the merits continues in the lower courts. The Department of Justice, which is part of the Biden administration, most recently asked the high court for emergency relief.
Biden introduced SAVE after the Supreme Court struck down his initial student loan forgiveness plan.

I'm all for this, but if people are not being held accountable and money not being returned or we not seeing tax reductions, it is just a game of show and it is starting to get old. We are only winning if something actually happens. I can say I saved 15% on my auto insurance, but if I have nothing to show for it, did it matter LOL.
