US Elections (& Politics) :)

Many folks don’t seem to understand that the debt does indeed have to be paid. In real $
It’s just that we grew up with it being a few % and not impacting the big picture. Relative pennies.

The Debt is printed money in the form of IOUs (US Treasury Bonds) that pay interest. As you print more, you owe more interest.

Well it’s now a quarter of every dollar you send to DC in taxes.

It’s now impacting what the government has left over for “other stuff” like SS, Medicare, infrastructure, Defense, etc.

The next time some genius tells you they don’t care about the Debt, we’ll just print more, ask him how that works if you take 25% of his paycheck.

The US currently takes in let’s say $4 Trillion per year in taxes and such.
We SPEND $6 Trillion per year.

That leaves a deficit of $2 Trillion per year.
Try that with your own checkbook and let me know how that works out for ya.

Exactly why I don't want to see tax refunds/rebates. Pay off the effing debt with the money then explain to the American people where their refund/rebate went and why.

Sorry, but "WE" are stupid beyond belief. It must be terribly frustrating to China to know we are so stupid yet still a superpower.

I assume you know this will never happen. With few exceptions the politicians don't want it, and most of the general population cares only about how much can I get, right now. The economy is in an obvious death spiral and it continues to astound me how long they are able to keep the balls in the air. What will matter the most is which branch of the uniparty is in control when the music stops.

"Jean-Pierre didn’t come to her decision to be an Independent lightly," the teaser for the book adds. "She takes us through the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision."

She knows what's up...

LOL :p :rofl::lmao:

DOGE found roughly $175 Billion in waste/fraud/abuse and that DID NOT include the Big ones: DOD, CIA, etc

They are making a big deal over cutting $9 Billion or roughly 5% of what’s been found so far to pacify the peasants who believe headlines and are too lazy to do their homework.

I’m a little more concerned about why they’re ignoring the other $166 Billion or 95%

They’re playing you

Simplified math:

WHAT THE PEASANTS DONT SEE
I steal $100 from you every year for twenty years
I get caught ONE year
I agree to pay you back $5

HEADLINE THE PEASANTS SEE:
“Bigredfish CUTS $5 in wasteful Spending”

This shirt might be in order...

I tell the wife and kids that civilizations come and go. We're on the downslope of ours and have to do the best we can for ourselves as the whole thing slides downhill. After seeing a few insurance and car repair quotes the last few days, I can't see how typical working people can make ends meet.

Scoop: Four reasons Musk attacked Trump's "big beautiful bill"

1. "The legislation cuts the electric vehicle tax credit that helps car makers like Musk's Tesla."

2. "Musk was working at the White House as what's called a "special government employee," and he had discussed trying to stay in that role beyond the 130-day time limit set by statute for the unpaid advisory position."

3. "Musk also wanted the Federal Aviation Administration to use his Starlink satellite system for national air traffic control"

4. "The final straw for Musk appeared to come Saturday night, when Trump abruptly announced he was withdrawing the nomination of Jared Isaacman, a Musk ally, to be NASA administrator."

"Musk had also grown increasingly frustrated with the Trump administration striking artificial intelligence deals with his competitor OpenAI, sources tell ABC News."

'KILL the BILL': Elon Musk continues to blast Trump's bill in barrage of social media posts

"Elon Musk is continuing his attacks on President Donald Trump's signature bill on Wednesday with a barrage of posts on X slamming the megabill, saying in one that no one "should be able to stomach it," while another instructed his more than 200 million followers to call members of Congress to "KILL the BILL."

"Musk, who until recently had largely scaled back posting about politics, on Wednesday alone has already posted or helped amplify posts on X criticizing the bill more than 25 times."

There are so many "important" people with their own personal agendas that it's difficult to believe any of them. In the political sphere, it seems like no matter who we support we're somehow getting screwed. There are a very, very few exceptions, and they never garner enough followers to have any critical mass. The only way out seems to be "Beam me up, Scotty".

Some people are probably ready for another tea party.

But is the bill good or bad?

I have noticed something about this politics thread. It seems to be a very accurate Canary in the Coalmine kind of place where you get a preview of attitudes taking over LONG BEFORE any MSM would ever cover it.

Carry on boys.

Last I heard they illegally overstayed their visa to visit our lovely and dumbarse country.

But is the bill good or bad?
Yes, and that's the problem. They always package good and bad stuff together, brag about the good stuff, and hide the bad stuff. They will never let you have any good stuff unless you agree to accepting more bad stuff.

Even when the good and bad isn't in the same bill they find a way to force unpopular things. An example: Last year in Oregon the state published a very flawed wildfire risk map. A huge chunk of the population dumped on it, and the politicians promised to repeal it. The repeal bill should have sailed right through the legislature, but at the last minute, more or less, the dem majority is saying they won't let the bill pass unless the repubs agree to their tax increase bill. It's just screw the people every which way they can.
