I can’t agree more. Our 7th grade daughter was reading a “book” on her computer the first week into school last year. She said “Dad, Mom, can you look at this, this isn’t right.” Me and my wife decided that day was the last day our kids would ever be in a government school. We didn’t know what we were going to do but we made that decision.
Needless to say, whatever story she was reading, I lost my mind. I practically made the news. I immediately got on Facebook and our community was in a upheaval.
I was turned on to a very small private school not far away. We visited later that week, the first thing I noticed was on the entrance door of the school was a sign that there is armed staff on site. I told the principal how much I loved that. He said yup, a majority of our facility are concealed carry holders, they are all required to train regularly and all the students know they carry for their protection.
The history classroom was lined with various flags. (Gadsden flag, Betsy Ross flag and various other patriotic flags. The constitution is also hung on the wall.
Needless to say, our kids enrolled and tested that day. They started the following week. Almost a year and a half into this new school as now a 6th grader and 8th grader. They are fluent in cursive, are learning true history, are learning grammer, reading real books (Shakespeare, JR Tolkien, CS Lewis and other classics.). They also learn Latin and are caught up with the rest of their classmates.
We were worried how we’d make ends meet with this sudden tuition payment for a private school. It’s been almost a year and a half and we still don’t know, but the money is always there. It has been the best investment we have ever made, and our children love it.
(I’ll try to find the screenshots of this “book” our 7th grade daughter was required to read if I can find it.)
