Hello, got excited when I discovered BI for Windows as everyone seems to love it on this forum. I figured the Android experience would be the same but I am nervous now because of the reviews in the Play Store aren't stellar.

Could someone tell me if the following work well in the Android app?

  • Instant notifications when cameras detect motion
  • Ability to quickly view a live feed
  • Ability to view recorded videos (from BI Windows machine)

The answers to all your questions is YES.

No need to waste time thinking about it. It works. It passes the wife test.

Everyone in your family can share the app if they're on the same platform.
If your family uses both Android and iOs, then it's another $10.

Check out this old thread... it addresses the built-in (free) alternative (UI3) for viewing alerts and clips.

The app can have some issues sending images. The thread covers these.

Many of us are now using Pushover as a more robust and tweakable messaging option.

One more question I just thought of (let me know if this needs to go into a BlueIris subforum or is fine here). Is there an option in BI to send an instant notification in the case of a power failure or if the power is cut intentionally. Kind of like a "heart beat" in terms of software uptime - if the signal isn't received then a notification is send to Android that the power is out.
