Using a 4mp at 1080p? (resolution and pixel confusion)

Is it a pointless buying say a 2042 and only using it at 1080p? May I as well just buy another 2032?

Hypothetical question, Im just trying to get my head around pixels and resolutions.:sick:

Would you get more detail on a 1080p resolution with a 4MP cam so that you have more detail if you zoomed in?

Think I get it, you actually get a 'bigger picture' with the heifer res. I've just done some side by side shots and 1080 clips some of the detail off.

So, is the IQ the same between a 3MP and 4MP at the same resolution?

You will have better results in low light and night vision by getting a native 2mp camera.
