Hello,
Long time viewer.
I am looking to get a camera to cover my driveway. I will mount it about 7 feet up on the wall above the garage. Currently it's a low light area at night with just one lamp and a street light about 100 feet away. My question, do I lose out on the main advantages of a low light camera such as Dahua 5442 or their 2mp Starlight camera when running it at night in IR mode? The reason I ask is that I was set on one of these cameras that perform really well in low light but a review on YouTube pointed out that most Dahua cameras will get enough light from IR and then will not require ambient light. I hope this is a valid question. I did try searching and did read the wiki. Thanks.

The "review" on youtube is wrong. These low light cameras are significantly better than standard cams both with IR on and off. IR does not compensate for poor low light capabilities.
