I see now that some cameras ( chinese ) are shipped with Verison v5.3.6 firmware.

I never tried it so I was wondering if anyone else have seen it or used it ?

here is one example of a camera that is shipped with that firmware

One problem is that there are 3 versions of Hikvision firmware with the same numbers and no doubt that they are all different. Would be better if they used different version numbers.

v5.x.x for 2x32 cameras (currently up to 5.4.0)
v5.x.x for xxx5 cameras (Chinese)
v5.x.x for 2x42 cameras (currently up to 5.4.0)

haha yes they really managed to make it a jungle for them selves and the customers... =D

I wanted to know if this could be the "new" interface , the black one, like the 5.3.8.and 5.4.0 etc for "normal" cameras.
and that it works ok

ok I think I found it now when I searched again .didn´t find it in my first search attempt ( me and the search function does not always cooperate) .

Anyway While I got your attention I can ask you this . would the DS-2CD2342WD-I work better when running it at 3MP resolution than a
[h=1]DS-2CD2332-I ? .... looking to buy one turret but can not make up my mind of which one to go for. will use it to cover entrances into the house basically, so will buy them with 4mm lens I was thinking[/h]

IMHO no it won't. DS-2CD2322WD-I @ 2MP is better. Got no idea where to get one of them local though, no one in UK seems to stock it.

yea I would guess so I was looking for that one as well since I saw it on Hiks webpage. The only bad thing is that I can not seem to find any DS-2CD2332-I english version. on aliexpress. and WDR is pretty useful since it will be alot of shadow/sunlight differences perhaps.

Hmm I thought most people say that the 3mp is way better at night. That was my reason

3MP is not way better. If you look at other threads, they are saying that as far as nigh sensitivity, 2MP > 4MP > 3MP. I don't have a 2MP, but I can confirm that 4MP > 3MP.
There is no reason to use a 3MP model these days. The 4MP are better, and have WDR, which is a pretty big feature.
IIRC, mechanically, the 2342 might also have been better than the 2342 (the 2342 has full orientability whereas I think it was limited on the 2332).

I do not know If I would stretch it that far . That one looks just plain wrong =D. And I prefer the EXIR - IR light instead since I got once with the multi-ir-ring setup and the spiders likes it a bit too much =) Any other tip ?

Between 2xx2 series, the differences between them are quite small anyway. All 2xx2 aren't great at night. Better than cheap crap but not amazing.

From my experience with the 2342's the last few weeks, the night vision isn't bad but its not great. You need to tinker with the WDR, DNR, iFrame and exposure because Ghosting is an issue whenever DNR and WDR is used. The auto feature on the IR washes out faces so i've had to tinker with that. I've also bumped it down to 1080p and didn't notice much improvement like i've seen some do. I've also added external IR and it helped a bit but hasn't been a huge improvement yet... i'm still tinkering with that.

And all this is just with the 4mm's because the 2.8's are just atrocious at night, i'm replacing them with 4mm for specific areas as soon as the budget allows. I'll be keep the 2.8's for backup if a 4mm goes down or as a wide coverage area for my backyard and side yard.
