Verify proper focal length with a single Varifocal...?

When using a Varifocal, does it show the focal length of the current zoom? If so, could it not be used to test each of your locations to verify the proper focal length for each new camera location? Then you could reliably choose fixed focal length IP cams.

That's been a recommendation given from time to time.

The camera doesn't give the actual focal length, though. IIRC, it uses a scale between 1 and 1400, where 1 is zoomed all the way out (2.7mm), and 1400 is zoomed all the way in (12mm). Still possible to get a good idea of what the various focal lengths are, IMO.

Mine dont show the zoom value.. not sure if other do? Still knowing its a 2.8x12mm its pretty easy to guess pretty close based on distance and FOV
