Version 6

In any case, I'm a bit anxious about removing the existing installation before installing the new version.

Even rebooted to make sure no other weirdness going on.... ruined my uptime record :D

Okay, I just need to step away for a while before I really screw things up. Found a download of 6.0.0.1 from 12/16/25 sitting on my computer... had the crazy idea that I should try that... welp, it installed. Except when I try to launch 6 I get the fun error that the application and service version must match -- so... yeah, that didn't work.

Well, got there... we're up and running

After installing the version from December, I stopped the old service - launched the new one as a Admin. Once launched as admin, it prompted to install updates.

Updates brought me up to the current version -- that refused to install otherwise. Running local AI now... all good.

So I am on release 5.4.9.18 on a dedicated Win 10 machine. Everything is running smooth, but I have been trying to install ASH21 cameras that I had purchased a long time ago (PITA cameras...never make that mistake again).

I see that along the way, there was some upgrades that may have made installing these easier?

Can anyone tell me quickly my options for upgrading? I see you can get 1 year extension of support and maintenance without subscription $35. it says upgrades a version 4 to 5?? Would that allow me to upgrade to 6?

If I go this route, can I do upgrade trough the software?

BTW, the server is a Dell XPS 8300 intel i7-2600 3.4GHz with 16GB RAM

If you have a current support plan you can upgrade to V6, I don't believe that you can do the V5 to 6 upgrade from within V5. The highly recommended way is to download the V6 full install from the BI web site and then install it, do not remove V5 before you install V6!

Ok. Thank you. After I originally installed BI many years ago, I never got upgrades. It seems like I can just pay the 35$ fee to upgrade to 6?

That price has gone up. You have 2 options:

Upgrade w/ Auto renewel -$44.95
One Year Renewel - $49.95

That old price may say it on the activation/renewel page, of the software, but when click on it you will be taken you to the site w/ the updated costs.

Are BI Licenses still being sold via the Store? It's been years since I installed BI4, and thinking it's prob. just as easy to purchase a fresh license & install on a clean build - but it seems like no new licenses have been made available for some time here, and may just buy from other sites if there are no plans to 'restock' the licenses in the store.

Thanks!

They're supposed to be sold in the IPCT Store but not sure what happened, they have not been sold there for some time now....and going from v4 you would need a new license.

This eBay vendor has lots of positive ratings although I cannot attest personally.

eBay

or

Blue Iris by Perspective Software LLC | Video Security and Webcam Software

As an eBay Associate IPCamTalk earns from qualifying purchases.
There's also a listing where Amcrest is selling "Blue Iris 5" for $60. The included BI 5 key should in theory be the same as a BI 6 key with 1 year of support and maintenance included upon activation, allowing BI6 to be installed and used.
