Very old new joiner

I have a system with 4 Arecont AV125IR cameras, Exacq ELS and Netgear PoE switch installed by an 'expert" 2 years ago in our complicated and spread out property.

The Exacq is noisy and has a user interface on the Ubuntu o/s that is hard to use and the support is poor.

I was thinking of changing to Blue Iris on a Neousys Nuvo 3005LP fan-less computer.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure @fenderman will be here shortly to greet you also.

Your cameras are on the list of supported cameras for BI and since you can get an evaluation version for free (fully functional - just has an overlay on the video) I suggest you check it out - the computer you have will be fine, BI is not that resource intensive once set up correctly.

You have the choice now in BI4 for 32bit or 64bit versions - which version of Windows you are using will dictate which one to use, although you may want to run the 32bit version even on a 64bit machine - it wont make any difference on just 4 cameras.

Let us know how BI does for you, many of us here on the board use it and support it (in a non paid, no connection way - lol).

Forget the Nuvo..way overpriced 3rd generation intels...
You can get fourth gen intels for a fraction of the price...they are nearly quiet and very efficient.

You may be able to transfer exacq licences to the new system..if not or you dont want to blue iris is superb...

No problem...The elitedesk line is superb....and most of the machines on ebay (check with seller for the serial number) have at least 2.5 years left on their next business day warranties...note that the USDT (ultra slim desktop) models have no room for internal drives and use 2.5 drives..the SFF has some more room and the tower the most...
Other great options are the dell optiplex line and lenovo M business lines... The dell BUSINESS outlet has sales all the time with 3 year NBD warranties on all systems...i5 haswell systems for 300-400, i7- haswell for 500-600...some good deals on ebay as well..with full warranties..
