I’m now interested in this topic, so I’m reviving it. I found out about this “feature” only this morning. I had been using my new Asus router as a vpn server to get to my internal network to view NVR cams. It worked, but you had to remember to start and stop the vpn, or all traffic would go through it which I didn’t want. Then I learned in another topic that my Asus router could act as an OpenVPN server that would only route traffic to my internal network through the vpn. All other traffic would not pass through it. This was much preferred since I didn’t need to remember to turn off the vpn. Now I just stumbled on this vpn-on-demand capability and am very interested. If I understand it correctly, once configured I can forget about it and it will automatically start and stop whenever I try to view my cameras using iDMSS. This would be perfect for my wife as she just wants to use one app to view the cameras.
If I get it figured out and working I’ll update this topic. In the meantime, is anyone currently using this feature? How is it working?
Thanks.
