The new 8GB Purple Pro HDD (WD8001PURP) has 256MB cache and seems to be throwing HDD exceptions constantly. I turned off the buzzer and it does not seem that there are any issues with the recording. But I am worried if it misses a few event recordings.

Has anyone upgraded their HDD? Hoping a firmware upgrade will solve this eventually.

Hi @recon

I have two 8GB Purple Pro HDD (WD8001PURP) running in a I-series NVR (DS-7732NI-I4/16P) and there are no issues.

I have had these drives running on the NVR with firmware version V4.51.025, V4.60.000, and V4.60.005.

The first drive I ordered and received in January was defective and I had to have it exchanged... as I waited for the replacement drive to arrive, I asked my first question here:

Is the WD Purple PRO HDD WD8001PURP compatible with the Hikvision DS-7616NI-I2/16P NVR? | IP Cam Talk

(At the time I had the DS-7616NI-I2/16P but have upgraded since then)

Also, if you are using group mode instead of quota mode make sure all the cameras are assigned to the group…

Have you checked that all cameras are recording? I’ve had beeping/errors when I added a new camera and did not yet add it to a group.
