OK.... this is on a Dahua 2mp varifocal turret. I have NOT (obviously) spent time to dial it in for good night video-- so--- CRAPPY video alert (and yes-- I feel the shame).

The neighbors backyard light was on as they let their dogs out. Something (???) goes scampering - hopping by--- does Not look like a cottontail though, and squirrels aren't active at night.
Rat? Mink? Weasel? What is it???

Squirrel that was disturbed. Got my curiosity up so I zoomed in and slowed it down to about 10% speed.
OK--- that makes a little more sense. The neighbors have stuff stored under their deck that the squirrel may have tried to make a home in. I don't think their dogs will tolerate the squirrel though. They have 2 or 3 big bird feeders going-- so a squirrel thieving from their bird feeders makes sense.

I put it into VLC, and messed with all kinds of settings, while playing in slow mo. I was finally able to see the long trailing legs of a frog .. and it's fat head.

Well frogs, with legs extended can stretch more than a foot ... the long shadow are legs stretched out alongside each other. Central shadow is the fat body.
But frogs jump when they move. And have to pull up their legs for the next jump. That's not happening. The animal in the video is running.
The video is of a squirrel, in my view.

I would say it's 2 eyes and something furry trailing behind like it scared for it's life.

And, It's a camera that need some time to adjust, like a couple of mine

You know me, I have to add the sarcastic comment:cool::p:D

Yup-- I have an IR light that will go up over on the corner to light up that whole backyard area. I should be able to dial in some very good video with that up. I did shove it into the window of my garage to see what it looks like....
Mounted properly and aimed out more should give me a nice area of coverage.

Yep. Frogs either hop regularly or stop then hop regularly, pause then hop regularaly. The animal here is bounding in uneven jumps and fleeing rom the dog in the house in the background. Frogs aren't scared of dogs. Squirrels aren't usually nocturnal so minly rest at night and come out during the day. That doesn't mean they never vernture out at night, but it's rare. Two many unseen predators eg Owls, foxes etc. Stoats and weasels tend to be active in both. Body shape wise it could be either but I still think it's a bit slender for a squirrel and being night, and based on the movement, far more likel a staot or weasel esepcially as squirrels bob their tail around as they move, where as stoats / weasels are long slim animals.
