When you are in bloody India. I know there are bigger dilemmas in the world but the service is on par with 2G in the UK. I get around 2Mbps down and 1Mbps up. If I dare sit under a mast and fry my brains then that might rise to 5Mpbs.

Sad state of affairs really as the mobile providers are now busy luring people with the impending release of 5G which means that 4G speeds will nosedive.

Any way off to eat some mangoes while they are available

Back in my days at university, they told me that the worst place is to stand under an antenna pole: see:

If the "next cell" antenna is placed in a "broad coverage" mode, then you should fall under that antenna's coverage. but if it is not, it should be worse.

When you are that close to a radio antenna, I'm not sure the usual beam path applies all that strictly.

Where I live, 2G was always about dial-up modem speed, with poor reliability. Based on what Wikipedia says, I guess it could be up to 500 Kbps which is a whole lot faster than I ever saw on 2G.
