Is there anything different about buying from IPcam vs directly from BI?

Several items different.
1) The price is lower
2) Easy to retrieve activation/serial number directly from ipcam website.
3) Small discount over already discounted price, but only if you are a paid supporter of ipcamtalk.
4) Very large user community able to answer just about any question you may have about Blue Iris. Note, do search for obvious answers to issues/questions on ipcamtalk before asking what may be considered a lazy or dumb question.
Best product/software purchase I have made in many years. Well worth the money.

There’s your stupid question search. Thanks for answering it. I was wondering about updates, potential for corruption? I’m 100% sure people buy and have good luck from here. I’ll do the same. I just wanted to know what I was getting.

Updates are available through the software regardless if you buy from Blue Iris direct or from the IPCamTalk Store and they are free for the first year, starting from the date of purchase. After the initial one year of free upgrades an annual fee of $34.95 (currently) will be charge for updates.

The only thing being purchased is the license to unlock the respective features & functionality of the BI software as well as a support/maintenance option that entitles you to future software upgrades for a specific period of time. The license does not expire... but support will. Once your term of support expires, the software continues to function, however you will no longer be able to apply/upgrade to newer versions of the software that were released outside of the support window you'd had previously purchased.
