old one is totally end of life for 6mm lens, old housing currently 2.8mm and 3.6mm. All old housing will be sold off soon.

New one base a little bigger than the old one, and add audio in/output and alarm in/output port.

What's with the tab sticking out of the front?
Does that release it from the base?
If it functions like the Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW, then the answer is "yes'".

I wonder....

Is their a two-step release that requires a pin or small screwdriver to allow the exposed tab to be pressed/moved? Or does one simply need a stick to poke the tab and release the cam from its base?
You know, it's been a while and I'm not the sharpest tool in the drawer when it comes to short term memory but I'll check my Amcrest to see after while (if I don't forget).
Maybe @Flintstone61 will chime in I think he's got at least one of the Amcrest cams with that tab.

EDIT: see flintstone's comment at #17 below.

If the Dahua is like it, I can't say. Just because Dahua is the OEM maybe Amcrest wanted something different......we'll know soon enough.

With the Amcrest there's no second release requiring any type of tool. I think that you may need to twist it some degrees after depressing the tab to align catch pins with larger holes. Been a while since I've taken mine down too.

That new design is UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGLY. :screwy:

I have an Amcrest with the same tab. It does not require a twist, but rather you pull parallel to the tab (eg, if installed on a wall, you push the camera up if the tab is facing up).

it is a plastic ring mount, like the T2431T-AS

the 1179ew's are a bit junky of a design. any fool can walk up and press the tab and release them.....even when they are installed any jack ass can walk up and turn the eyeball with thier bare hand.....NO LOCKING BASE!
ok in a garage or out of reach...
I have 2 installed inside the garage/backporch...and one on the front porch outside....If somebody come and hits it with a Pumpkin it was $59 bucks no crying.......If they hit a 5442 2.8 MM Imma have to get the Posse out for a manhnunt to exact compensation outta thier hide....:)

If the Loryta
T54IR-AS 6mm

isn't built any better in the eyeball lock than the Amcrest look alike....then you will have this problem most likely.

Well....andy has the metal housing available in a varifocal....would that help where you want a 6mm?
