Which camera's for old Hikvision NVR from 2014?

Hello, i have an old Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P/8 NVR from 2014.
Which camera's will work with this? Preferably Hikvision brand (for compatibility)
I've been told newer camera's probably won't work and that i should buy a new NVR, but i don't have the money for that right now.. just need 1 or 2 good/basic camera's with night vision and motion detection.
(Preferably 720 or 1080p)

There is a lot of expertise on this forum, any help or advice is much appreciated!

Any Hikvision camera will work.

You just have to keep in mind the max resolution your NVR supports (5MP), and that you might have to switch the encoding on the new camera from H265 to H264.

It should.

Years ago there were problems with some NVR firmwares that supported (like yours) 3MP and 5MP but did NOT support 4MP, were you had to turn down the resolution on 4MP cameras to 3MP. It might or might not be your case (later firmwares fixed that).

Thank you for the advice. Would a varifocal 4mp camera such as this one work also with the older NVR?
It has H.264 encryption at least, and a 2.8-12mm varifocal zoom function, but will that zoom function work (using the NVR's mouse ?) Or am i better off going with 2 fixed cams?
