For night time which would you prefer ?
4mp ptz with 1/1.8" sensor
or
2mp ptz with 1/1.8" sensor
I am thinking 2mp with that large sensor should be better at night time vision and moving objects but 4mp on ideal sensor size would give me bigger image, not sure which would i get.
what do you think ? and why ?

I'd honestly pick the 2MP one if the camera is mostly for nighttime. I'd rather have a clearer, brighter image than extra resolution that doesn't help much in the dark. If the area has decent lighting, then the 4MP could be worth it, but for low-light performance I'd lean toward the 2MP.

Agree, especially for a PTZ.

Remember, as you zoom in to objects at distance, more light is needed, and that is where the 2MP would shine over the 4MP on the same sensor.

never thought about it that way, which makes perfect sense now especially with PTZ at further away objects.
out of curisosity if comparing 4mp ptz on 1/1.8" to a 2mp ptz but on 1/2.8", would the 2mp still be better choice for objects at a far distance? since you would need lower amount of light on 2mp than 4mp to illuminate an object to the same level ?
