Risky if it is though. GPS can malfunction or be inaccurate. On youtube I watched a video from the UK of a pilot who got busted for entering restricted airspace because his GPS system was 1500 feet out vertically in reporting his position. Vertical has a much larger margin of error but I believe even the standard accuracy is 6 feet horizontally which is still likely enough to hit a pylon, jetty or bridge support on a river. The boat passenger appears to have something in his right hand. Unsure if this is a tinny or a remote maybe? It is possible to steer boats via wireless remote these days although they're usually used for docking.
