In just curious as we now are having 8mp cameras with better 1/1.8 sensors readily available. When will or would we need to move up to 12mp like the IPC-HDBW81230E-ZE at around $450? I know MP isn't everything and sensor size needs to increase for good night vision but for a large area during the day would 12mp be your next pick?

IMHO, storage and computing power will have to improve greatly. Before many 12mp cams will become the norm.
They use tremendous horsepower to process and huge storage sizes.
