Why can't drivers with good driving etiquette report drivers with bad driving etiquette to the appropriate authorities?

Lately, I've been witnessing drivers cutting off other drivers on the freeway and there have been very close encounters. Its disgusting and nerve-racking. The fact that there is very little traffic law enforcement, its too bad these incompetent drivers are not reported to law enforcement; it should be as simple as uploading videos to a centralized database.

This YouTuber compiles and posts on YouTube,

Sad that nothing really gets done unless a significant accident takes place and the media goes all over the place with the narrative.

In this day and age law enforcement still needs to hide out in the bushes. Why can't we just have multi-radar system placed throughout the US highway system?

edit, here's more

Imagine a driver that has to apply his/her brake but then all of a sudden realizes through their rear rearview mirror, a speeding driver come up from behind. Its a bad recipe.

I don't know what state you reside in , but in my state, you can get a ticket for impeding the flow of traffic. That means, if the highway is posted 70MPH, you are cruising 70MPH in the hammer lane and won't move over into the right lane to let cars get past you, you are guilty of impeding the flow of traffic. New studies are proving that experienced drivers can safely operate vehicles at higher speeds than what the posted MPH limit is. If they have to go around a vehicle in the right hand lane and then get back into the left hand lane after they pass the lane hog, that increases the chance of accidents.

What ever you do, don't impede the flow of traffic in the left hand lane and then brake check the vehicle behind you when they blink their headlights at you, which all they are doing is asking nicely for you to move over into the right hand lane so they can pass. Especially when that vehicle behind you is a unmarked state trooper. They will color illuminate the whole back end of your vehicle with brightly colored dance floor lighting, issue you a personalized invitation to the judiciary ball where they will nicely ask for a monetary donation to the state that employs them.

China had a program where they would reward drivers to send in footage of other drivers doing bad things.
They found out real quick people would use two cars working together and one car records and the other car forces the innocent to "bad" things.

OP is that you in that car? you are way to tense, try doing what I do while I am driving my almost 10 pound lifted excursion, when people drive like butt heads I just slip in a cool movie, fix myself a refreshing adult drink and watch the movie and chill. just don't watch war movies or thrillers if you jerk the wheel when someone starts shooting other drivers get really scared

Yeah, that wouldn't end well with all the Karens already turning in folks for birdwatching.

The police are having the same personnel crisis as everyone else, in a lot of locals, they simply don't have the manpower.

The problem is once you head donw this road, you find drivers who report people for every little genuine mistake and everyone makes mistakes.....

We have this in the UK now with some police forces accepting dashcam footage. Whereas sometimes it might be justified, the problem is some people will now report anyone for anything. You might say it imporves driver behaviour but as Imentioned above, everyopne makes mistake which means the time you do it eg cut someone up by accident (maybe you didn't see them) etc, you can end up prosecuted as video only tells 1/2 the atory. Thin end of the wedge.

speaking of Excursions. last night, an Excursion t-boned a Prius at a rural T intersection not far from here, killed the driver of the Prius instantly. nothing like 9000 lbs smacking into the side of 3500 lbs to ruin someone's day. it was at about 6pm, so hours before sunset, who knows, only way I can figure it happened was, the Prius pulled out of the stop sign on the side road to make a left onto the through road, right into the path of the Excursion. As the owner of a F250 diesel, I know those big things don't turn too quick and require some immediate and strong application of the brakes to slow down from highway speeds.

As the owner of a Excursion, i had a choice to chose something to keep my family safe if someone hits them. No offense against the OP but I also have a issue with the arrogance of the title of this thread. How is it nerve racking when OTHERS get cut off? Who decides who has good driving etiquette? Is it the same person that stops at YEILD signs when there is no one else around?

heh, funny this thread got dredged up... I'm looking at late model (2018+) Ford Expeditions as replacement for my 2002 F250 longbed 4x4 diesel (7.3). the F250 is total overkill for towing our 4500 lb trailer, and its 60+ foot turning circle with a 21 foot long truck makes it just so unweildy. and, the 7.3PS turbodiesel is so noisy, and the ride is rough on harsh roads. and I really don't need a 8 foot long bed 9000 lb truck to pulll this trailer and carry what we need. I mean, it carries everything at once that I've ever thought about taking on a t rip, but its starting to seem like thats just too much stuff.

now, during our evacuation from the Santa Cruz SCZ fires last year, it WAS really handy to have the covered longbed truck to move lotsa bulky valuable stuff to safe ground just in case, but in reality our place was never in danger, we live in the southern tip of an evac zone.

(sidewalk camping in McKinleyville in front of a friend of our son, during said fires, 350 miles north of Santa Cruz, to get out from under the smoke, )

So when I moved from CA to TX last year I thought there would be less assholes on the road. I was totally wrong. I can be in the slow lane going 5mph OVER the speed limit and I'd have drivers riding my ass to get around. In North TX you get a lot of slow rolling polite people, but when they get on the road its fucking Nascar..

Some older Texans told me its always been like this around here.

I've always thought that most of the drivers on SF Bay Area highways were fairly efficient, and just trying to get through the mess in a timely fashion with a minimum of drama, but recently I've seen some crazy stuff, like a dude careening from the far left 'fast' lane going 80-ish across ALL lanes of traffic, to nearly crash into the totally stop-n-crawl long line of cars trying to get off at a backed up exit at the very last accessible point.. I know, it only takes 1 out of 1000 to make a bad impression. That right exit-only lane gets backed up a mile (its I680 south connecting to Mission Blvd in Fremont, California. Mission is the shortest way over to I880 southbound but its a mile of an incredibly congested 6 or 8 lane boulevard past busy stripmalls.

Check the plate cause he was from Texas!
I split lanes in Cali on a Kawie 1000 for years, no problems. In the car, it was get in a lane and stay in a lane
as he how changes lanes gets the ticket, no matter how fast the slug of vehicles were going.

when we moved from nj to Texas a guy cut us off in traffic then pulled up at next to us at the next light rolled down the window and my wife started freaking out thinking he was going to throw something or shoot us when he shouted out "sorry partner, pull over at the shop and go and I will buy you guys a beer"

I said damn I like Texas already

Too much NASCAR! One may drive 200 MPH, crash, catch fire, jump out and wave to all saying "I'm ok, just fine".
There are no consequences and "anyway my phone is ringing", bla bla bla or is that baa baa baa?
