Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

Yeah I accept that the F1.0 lens is going to have soft focus problems out to 8-10ft. I can deal with that.

The thing is my 4K-T doesnt do this and my other 4K-X doesnt. Both on older FW.
More and more I think its the newest FW. Now if it would just let me roll it back..but nooooooo

For people, its acceptable. Which is why I placed it there to begin with, get color ID at night to go along with my B&W ID from my Z4 which is excellent

It won't let you rollback or you don't have the firmware to rollback?

If you have tried to flash older firmware and it won't accept it, that would be I think the first Dahua to block it?

The fw is Andys latest. I have two older versions including the original and it won’t let me flash either via camera direct nor through the NVR gui… lemme try SmartPSS…

Well now its hosed.
Full factory reset 3X and now when I connect to it, it gets stuck on the 2nd question of initialization, about Auto checking for updates. That popup wont go away and no way to navigate away. Have tried 10x and same. Tried many different browsers... More sure now than ever that it was bad FW

It will be going to the gators after marinating in beef broth

OK so Im in. Before I got on a ladder I tried one last time by clicking on the menu items randomly before passing the first P2P popup and between that and banging on the ctrl key at the same time, something snapped and it came up to the main login screen (before it was advancing right past login and going to menu (GUI ). Then I was able to answer both questions (initialize) and Im back in as normal.

Still wont take ANY FW

It must have heard me, I was just warming up the beef broth and decided to download Andys 23/12/21 FW again and put the camera on my LAN, and it took! Same FW, it wont take any of the other 3 I have including the latest from Dahua. I'll reconfig and try again tonight but doubt we'll see any improvement

This is using close to the same settings as on my other 4K-X with the older FW (and LESS light running a faster shutter!)

Interesting thing:
a few days ago when I was on Andy firmware page, I found that there is a new dedicated firmware for Color4K-T-S2-black...

this is meta-taurus (not taurus or volt) firmware line, it means this is for a new SOC / camera variant released after 5442-S3 (with AcuPick and Video Meta Data), which can have totally different video characteristics (or not?)...
As I understand this is only for Color4K-T black model...

I tried to buy Color4K in S2 variant in Europe - but it looks like every dealer I know in many EU countries have only older S1 models on stock.

@EMPIRETECANDY can you tell us something more about this new Color4K-S2 version? Did you tested it? Do you want import S2 variants for other Color4K models (white, bullet)?

I'm using this in the problem camera and can't update even to newer Dahua Intl FW on their site

Do you need to update the firmware.bin file as well as the main bin file?

Becouse 5849t1 is from s2 generation (s1 never had this full color varifocal) and is based on meta Taurus line.

Full color 5xx9 line have 4 different firmware lines. One lens 5849 have 3 different firmware lines. It’s messy :)
