wrong thread? Hik and remote viewing

Apologize if this is the wrong thread but for the life of me I cannot get remote view going through apps like IP Cam viewer or Hikvision ivms-4500

I have a test cam set up at external IP (dyndns account and port forwarded in my router) and if I use that address and the port assigned, I can see the hikvision interface from the browser on my phone
however when I use the two aforementioned programs, they both fail to connect.

Any idea?????

For IP Cam Viewer, select "Generic URL" as the Make, and "Generic RTSP over TCP" as the Model. Use this url: rtsp://IP:RTSP_PORT//Streaming/Channels/2 (replace the 2 with 1 if you want the main stream, but sub stream works better in IP Cam Viewer). For this you will need to have the RTSP port forwarded as well.


For iHik, use your IP address or DDNS for address. For the Port, use the SDK port. For this, you will need the SDK port forwarded as well.
