Hi everyone!

I am using a HP EliteDesk 800 G2 - Core i7-6700 with Windows 7 and I am quite happy so far. I am running the BI demo and with my 7 cameras I am at 24% CPU. I have a mix of Dahua's and Hik's at various MP's and decided to have 4 constantly recording at higher FPS and the other activated on movement. The interface for BI is quite straight forward and I am about to pull the trigger on the purchase and the associated APP.

A few questions remain that I have not been able to figure out yet (I was only able to play with this over the last weekend and this morning so I may have not found the right document/setting yet):

  1. For some reason I only see 'today's date' in the 'new folder' and the 'stored folder'. Where are the recordings from this week since last weekend? The stored files start somewhere last night (different times) and go to approx. 5 am this morning, that's when the new file starts. I noticed that all stored files are around 4,097,ish GB. Under 'clips and archiving' the limit clip age is set to 7 days and is supposed to move to the folder 'stored'. So I am not sure what and where I can set the right settings to keep my recordings. BTW I have 2TB hard drive which has 1.7TB still free after this one week of testing. So clearly this is not stored properly.
  2. I can not figure out how to quickly move within a recorded file. When I double click on the clips on the right I get to the large display. The timeline below I can move nicely with the slider dot. The manual points out to click on the time line to move to that specific time to play. Sometimes this works, mostly it does not. Do I have to click PAUSE before i click to the timeline and then play again? That works sometimes better but not all the time. But just clicking there while in PLAY mode does not guarantee to advance to this point.
  3. The motion detection concept is still not understood after only one cup of coffee this morning. The grey box is only a representation of what would trigger the recording - right? If I make it more sensitive the box is smaller and hence would detect smaller (finer) changes in pixels - right? Its not that movement is only detected within this box - correct?

Any pointers would help! Thanks!

@heitjer You cpu consumption will drop further when you enter your license key and enable direct to disk recording for each camera. Record tab>file format..it does not work in the demo.
1) you likely have a size limit on the new folder and stored folder...you should not limit the storage by days, but rather size...you want to retain as much as your drive will allow.
2) What EXACT version of blue iris are you running? You can download the latest from the website update page.
3)correct...the help file explains motion detection in detail.

I unchecked the "limit clip age" (it was set at 14 days) and the size limit was at 20GB. What should I set it to? Any recommendation or is just dependent on what I want to keep? 20GB stored one day so I try to set it 140GB and see what happens.
Version is: 4.4.5.3 x64

You should set the size limit so that all folders combined reach the hard drive max...leaving 5-10 percent free space on the drive - why not use all the space available to you?....once you set it, hit the status icon on the top left (three vertical bars) and select the clips storage tab...make sure you dont see an red - over allocation error..
140 is very little storage for 7 cams...
update to the latest version by going to the update page on the blue iris website.
