This model main problem is the lack of the chips. the ready date at least 4 weeks, we booked 200pcs, will have enough to ship, but most of them comes in Feb. We have a crazy long holiday.2-3 weeks off, all Chinese will be this.
I messaged you a couple weeks ago about ordering, can you check your PM box and respond? Thanks!

Andy responds faster if you go AliExpress. It should show Empire Technology in the upper left corner. Sign up for AliExpress - it's easy. Then under your My AliExpress on the right under your log in info, click on Message Center. You can get a message to Andy there. Note that he's in Hong Cong so take into account differing time zones. He doesn't work 24/7 and has a life.

default ip is 192.168.1.108, use the adapter to plug camera directly into your computer..

setup network manually on this computer: 192.168.1.100/255.255.255.0 (No GW or DNS)
Did you know that you can skip the first part and just do the IP address change on the PC without bothering to unplug anything from the router?

Yeah I don't mess with the CD or anything, I run a cable from my laptop to the Poe injector, one to the cam, set static IP in the laptop, open camera web interface, change it's setting to DHCP, grab the Mac address while I'm in there, set up a reservation on my network, plug the camera into the switch and pow, it's alliivvveeee.

I'm looking to purchase some cameras from Empire Technology, is the best method via Aliexpress or directly via PM with Andy on here?

Cheers,
Zoperd.

you can't pay in a PM, you can do alieexpress, or paypal, I have not yet found out which one is "better" though in the future I am going to try and have him go through paypal because I trust it more than alie lol.

the ez-rj 45 is pricey, but I don't make cables all THAT often with how cheap they are on monoprice and using the normal cheaper connectors isn't impossible, it's just annoying, with the ez connectors you just get the wires lined up and push them all the way through and chop them off, you aren't guessing on the length and fiddling with it I can just jam it in all the way until the insulation bottoms out and snip, it was just a suggestion though, anyone else can do whatever they want lol.

I have both regular and EZ crimper. I know EZ cost more but you only pay it one time and keep it for the rest of your life as long you don't lose it :) EZ make it a hell lot easier to crimp Ethernet in tight places or on ladder etc thou. I think it worth the investment and I believe EZ reduces the number of mistake or wastes too.

Yup, I've never gotten a bad end using them, if I went through 1,000 ends a day maybe I wouldn't want to use them unless I could pass the cost on to my customer or something but I never plan to be a wiring contractor lol for an occasional network cable at home? EZ all the way.

You missed the whole point here lol which was I was able to log into a camera (IP address 10.1.1.xx/static) plugged into a router (IP address 192.168.0.1) with a tower PC (IP address set manually to 10.1.1.100) also connected to same router WITHOUT having to unplug anything from it. Take note, a router is present here. In your case, there's none lol.

your 'router' is just a dumb switch that routes traffic from that switch to the internet and vice versa.. as long as your on same subnet it should work with a switch between em.. switches dont care about IP's as it all hardware layer routing (mac addresses)

anything not on your subnet you ask your gateway (router) to figure out how to contact, anything on your own subnet its presumed your switch can reach it and its not sent to your gateway.

Code:
Main: rtsp://ip:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0
Sub #1: rtsp://ip:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1
Sub #2: rtsp://ip:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=2
No idea how to config your Surveillance Station, the cameras are ONVIF compatible if that helps.

Okay, here is my first weird thing while I was away from my home. What is going on with this 5231?

Basically what is going on is the camera is going from a completely black image to a completely overly bright white image and it is a vicious cycle that keeps going from black to white black to white like it is trying to adjust itself and just can't. I haven't gotten back home yet but my guess is there some type of automatic exposure setting that needs to be turned off. I will reply with what I find.

did you leave it on a fixed shutter speed? might be too much light and its trying the iris in a cycle.. make sure its on auto-exposure.

I did the above steps on the 5231 and it was all good. But I have to let everyone here know ever since I dealt with surveillance cams I have always logged into them through the router NOT without it -- a matter of convenience for me -- having to carry stuff around, clearing the table, reconnecting cables and all the back n' forth that goes with it is just too much. So plugging the camera directly to my tower PC was something totally new and what was even more surprising was the ability to change the PC's subnet with just a snap of a finger (you can call me neophyte at this point)...so the whole experience was an eye-opener. More so, I took this even further to suit my convenience by doing this with everything attached to the router and not having to disconnect anything from it.

I give credit to Nayr for sharing this.:D
