I've just has some intruders wandering down the track "lost" by the side of my place, no cam so this must be fixed.

I would like a cam that can be trained on the gate marked from where I was standing where I took the pic, basically maximum zoom. The distance is 75m approx. I'm going to hang a CCTV sign on the gate also.

POE is essential as I can run a cat5E from the shed 20m away which already has a cam on it. I can fit a poe switch in the shed.

So Q1. What cam options? Hik would be great, but I'm open to Dahua as its getting great feedback from yourselves. Ali purchase to keep the costs down.

Q2 the feed to the shed is from a gigabit switch from the garage, would a switch in series be a problem?

Thanks in advance, I'm still calming down from chasing a few ball bags off my property

Maybe a block due to location? They work on my laptop, pad, phone.

You need at least a 65mm lense to get coverage out that far, and preferably 2x that (130mm). To get that without driving yourself crazy with alignment, a PTZ is best. The SDZW2030S-N should work well, if you can dial it in, but I suspect that it is over $500. I believe that the better choice is the new low cost Starlight PTZ 25x, SD49225T-HN. It can be had for under $350 from Andy.

Yup, that 25x starlight PTZ is the way to go. Zooms up to 120mm (2.4° field of view) and doesn't cost a fortune.

I'd go with one of the Dahua Starlights. The SD49225T-HN is an excellent budget PTZ and should be more than adequate for a facial ID at 75m. Going from a switch to a switch won't hurt anything.

And just checking, but are you finding BALL GAGS on your property from trespassers? You said something about chasing ball gags off your property?!?
