Hey guys/gals,

My name is Adam, I'm newly married, from Georgia, and am about to buy my first house. We close on the house next week and I've been driving my wife nuts with wanting to tech out already :winktongue:. I've already purchased a security system (Abode), "smart" dead bolts (Yale w/Z-wave), and I plan on integrating wall outlets, switches and garage door openers.

What I need though is a nice security camera setup. I've been learning as much as I can (including the resource guides on here), and I think it's time to start asking questions. I will post a link to my thread once I write it, but I just wanted to say hey! :headbang:

Honestly my advice would be to take it slow. As to buying and owning your first house, don't underestimate the amount of savings you need if something major happens.
You'll probably discover things about the house you'd rather change than being able to remotely unlock your door. It doesn't sound like this is new construction where you're trying to run a bunch of wires before the drywall goes up. If you run the wires for cams yourself, you will make mistakes that hopefully you learn from as you go.
