Dahua NVR don't recognize Dahua cameras (screenshots attached)

Hi,

I'm in the process of installing home surveillance system that includes:
* Dahua NVR5216-16P-4KS2
* 8 Dahua IP cameras IPC-HDW5231R-Z

So far I've installed all the cameras and connected 4 of them to the NVR.
In the ConfigTool I can find the NVR and the cameras:

Connecting to each camera from the ConfigTool works:

The problem is that I can't see the cameras from the NVR's web interface.
When I'm searching I can find just 3 out of 4 connected cameras and from those that I do find, when I add them they seem offline:

What am I doing wrong and what should I do in order to configure it properly?

So that means I must set the cameras static IP addresses (and not DHCP?) that are on the same address range as the NVR?


I tired doing that from the ConfigTool. Set one of the cameras to have this IP: 10.100.102.70
Subnet: 255.255.255.0.
That didn't help and I can't even connect to the camera from the ConfigTool (the blue line):

First is that 10.100.102.x the subnet of the POE connections on the nvr itself.
Perhaps you connected the camera there so it got the ip address there.
Try to stick it back there and see in the nvr gui if you can connect to it.

If you want to have the camera on you main lan which seems to be 10.1.1.x 255.255.255.0:

Place pc ip address fixed in that ip subnet 10.100.102.x with subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Or change the subnet mask of the pc to: 255.0.0.0
Do not change the default gateway ip address on your pc as that is for internet connection.

Once you have re numbered the ip address of the camera back to your 10.1.1.x network, do change back your pc ip address to what it is now.

That is exactly what I did (described above).
The cameras are connected to the NVR.

any ideas on how to solve this issue?
 
Maybe you understand j4co wrong.

If your camera use for example 10.1.1.2 with the subnetmask 255.255.255.0 then the nvr or the other cameras need to has to be in the ip range 10.1.1.x with the same subnetmask.

Example:

cam1 10.1.1.2
cam2 10.1.1.3
nvr 10.1.1.10

Because the subnetmask 255.255.255.0 fix the last segment of the ip adress which means that to communicate with netwok devices you need to use an 10.1.1.x range. If you use the subnetmask 255.0.0.0 you can change the last three segments.

Example:

cam1 10.1.1.2
cam2 10.2.1.3
nvr 10.3.1.10

you see the difference ?
 
Yes.
So if I will change the subnet mask of the NVR to be 255.0.0.0 it would be able to communicate with the cameras.
I will give it a go later today.

Did that work because I just bought my first Dahua Starlight came and when I plugged it in its has a 192. address and mine are all 10.1.1.X for the rest of the games

It wont work for you when you have non 10.x.y.z addresses like the 192.x.y.z you seem to have..
Only thing to do is put a device in the same subnet as the camera and log on to the web interface, and change the ip address for the normal prefix you are in (10.x.y.z for most people) and change the device you initiated the change from back to its normal IP.

I have multiple interfaces in my PC and have a wire only for new devices like this where I can change the IP settings for.
 
The weird thing is I tried plugging the new dahua cam in my poe port downstairs. And it didn't work. As soon as I plugged it into the NVR (Q-See) it worked and changed the IP from 192 to 10.0.x.x.
 
Didn't work for me yet...
I did what was suggested here, all the settings seems to be right bit the NVR still recognizes the cameras as they are offline.

I will try resetting the cameras to factory default settings and start all over.

If it does - would you be happy to write a "walk through " on here (x'ing the IP addresses)?
There seems to be a lot of really clued up people here but there must be people like me (not so clued up!!) who would be grateful for it.
