one time fee...when version 5 comes out you will have to buy again, in the past it has been at half price to upgrade....support after 1 year is extra...Is the 60 usd a once off price? Have not seen it stated as yearly or any other recurring period anywhere?
If it a once off then WOW! Very decent price as software goes....
yes, and out of the hands of amcrest, which is the successor to foscam digital technologies - a houston based foscam distributor...who left customers hanging....I see a USD $45 package on AMZ by Amcrest - I am guessing buying directly from the Blue Iris website will put more money into the developer's hands?
I have been watching Blue Iris for a long time and I'm finally ready to buy, I think.
Yes, I saw that one, as well as the one for $58.50 by Blue Iris fulfilled by AMZ...and I still went direct from Blue Iris website. $1.50 wasn't much...so why make them pay a marketing fee to AMZ? The issue I had with the Amcrest package is what level of brand specific customization was there from initial splash page promoting their brand to potentially deleting some features that their cameras/NVR didn't accommodate. The write up just wasn't clear on that but was conscious of that having experienced the Lorex software that was a rebranding of the Dahua software for their NVR without the most recent updates.I see a USD $45 package on AMZ by Amcrest - I am guessing buying directly from the Blue Iris website will put more money into the developer's hands?

I appreciate you all directing me to the optional path of maximum return to a worthy Developer. Its good to know that I could get it cheaper but I just paid $59.95 directly.
If money were real tight I might have chosen another path. Get ready for "duh" newb questions in the weeks ahead.
Be sure to read the help file from beginning to end.![]()
I have downloaded BI (but not installed it) and I've been reading 2 to 3 hours a day. I watched a few videos. I'm stalking a lot of used Dell desktops at a local surplus auction (read the BI Hardware guide).
I have new Netgear PoE Switch on order (AMZ Warehouse deal - open box). I dismounted 2 of my my old Axis P3343s and I have a line on a Dahua Starlight Turret (HDW5231R-Z).
I plan to stage everything on the bench before I hang anything back up. I have some twisted pair to run for a driveway cam and maybe fab up a new pole and mount (lots of oilfield pipe cheap around here) for the Dahua.
