I'm looking for more examples of bricked Hikvision IP camera, for further research / analysis.

The R0 series seems to have yielded up a fair collection of useful 'improvements' that can be done, from a 'brick-fix tool' to the 'enhanced mtd hack' that allows full upgrading to the EN/ML 5.4.5 version of firmware.
And I recently had an interesting experience with a Chinese DS-2CD3335D-I G0 camera that I'd had on the shelf for quite a while, with a good end result.

So I'm looking for more examples of bricked cameras to hopefully figure out some more 'improvements' that can be shared with the forum.
Many thanks in advance.

I successfully bid for an R6 Hikvision camera and K41 NVR on eBay in the 'spares or repairs' category, arriving very soon.
It will be interesting to explore them.
I was outbid in the last 10secs for a Hikvision DS-2CD2T42WD-i5 POE which had stopped working after a thunderstorm. A pity as that would have been more interesting.

This 'spares or repair' item arrived today, an English DS-2CD2042WD-I that had apparently been a customer return.
It was clear why - the image was grossly out of focus.
But easily fixed with about a 30 degree twist of the lens, which had intact glue so must have been shipped from the factory like that.

I'm feeling quite chuffed - but it would have been more interesting if it had been bricked.
So the @montecrypto 5.4.3 'SSH no psh' has replaced the original 5.4.1 EN/ML until I create my own hacked 5.4.41 EN/ML firmware.

K41 NVR on eBay in the 'spares or repairs' category
And this was in perfect working order - apart from having CN 5.4.5 (*edit* oops actually 3.4.95) firmware and CN menus.
But easily fixed with a 'hacked to EN' tweaked firmware.
So the DS-7604NI/E1/4P/A experimental target is going back on eBay.

Well, after an update with the stock EN/ML 3.4.95 firmware this went on eBay and I got a little more than I paid for it, and a new 1TB Seagate Pipeline surveillance HDD (the installed Barracuda ES.2 had failed in the 5-year warranty) and the buyer also got a good price and a slightly used HDD thrown in.
And I've sold one DS-2CD2032-I and another DS-2CD2032-I just about.
The mini-bullet is really neat physically, but you do get a bit weary of cleaning spider webs off.

Well, a very generous forum member has gifted me a set of 3 cameras that he'd replaced with more capable models, so that should keep me going for now, especially as eBay has been dead for a while for 'spares and repairs' Hikvision items, and also for Dahua which I was thinking it might be interesting to explore.
Many thanks again!

But I'll leave this WTB post open just in case anyone has anything bricked that they want rid of.

I've got a Hikvision 4mp bullet I think I killed with moisture. There's a red LED that comes on right next to the ribbon that runs to the sensor. Interested?

Recrimping the rj45 port with a punchdown is the best method to fix water damaged pins. I have repaired several otherwise dead cameras. Simply lookup the wire diagram for the camera generation/manufacturer. Takes no more than 30 seconds to crimp on a new female rj45 end.
