Just another way to review footage, I've always just picked the day, then the camera and the time. Ive never turned off anything camera or system wise and didn't know if there was a reason for it aside from freeing up cpu.
Also you can drag the green and red sliders when selecting a scene for exporting, just extra ways to do the same thing.
Great videos by the way, certainly helping a lot of people out. I'm surprised BlueIris doesn't have a full channel with these already.

So you mean you select the videos from the "Clips" area? I am going to do a video on that later too as an alternative way of reviewing video. I just like doing it from double clicking the timeline personally because you can review all the cameras at once.
This isn't obviously required it's just something I recommend for setups that use a higher amount of CPU on a normal basis. At time when you are trying to fast forward through a lot of video and reviewing all the cameras at once plus having the live view/recording going on in the background my CPU can sometimes spike out at 100% and have a half second or so delay for the system to catch up. I just mention disabling the cameras to have the smoothest playback possible and to reduce the chances of errors when exporting/converting video.
I'm currently running 7 cameras @ 15fps on a i5-3570 so it definitely helps me to disable.
They have a channel with a couple videos but it looks like he gave up on that project. All the videos were outdated and on BI v3
Hi Dasstrum! I was wondering if you might be able to make a video about how to trigger a PTZ camera based on motion detected by another camera, and then once the trigger event ends, return the PTZ to its initial preset starting point?....That would be awesome!

Just like someone might want to go fishing or riding a bike for fun I like helping others and doing these videos. Since I have a small side business installing residential camera systems I wanted to make these videos to help my clients better understand Blue Iris and all the features. I will have a new video out in a couple days: Camera Resolutions ... its taking me a little bit longer on this video than the others. I then plan on continuing my Triggers series in Zones/Hotspots and then object detection

I would be very interested in this as well. Like the video you were showing of mail being delivered where your ptz cam zooms in on the mail truck and tracks it
I think his question is based on a PTZ camera moving to a predetermined preset when another camera triggers. This is possible to do in Blue Iris via Alerts and "Request from a web service". As far as the auto tracking there isn't a way to track and object with a PTZ in Blue Iris. This is all done camera software side

Sure that would be pretty easy. I could possibly do a quick video today showing my PTZ rules. If you buy the camera (or any Dahua PTZ that support auto tracking) it's pretty self explanatory to set it up

You're saying it's better to set this stuff up directly in the camera GUI instead of Blueiris?? I have the non-tracking version of PTZ you mentioned (i think 49225) and a few of the starlight turrets whose motion detection that I want the PTZ to respond to
If your camera doesn't support auto tracking then you won' be able to auto track - not with Blue Iris or camera gui. You can however have your PTZ camera move to a preset with the "request from a web service" function.
To do this: Go into the camera you want to be the trigger for the PTZ camera. (Not the ptz itself).
Go into Alerts>check "Request from a web service" and click configure
On the "when triggered" enter:
<Your LAN server address and port>/admin?camera=<PTZ camera shortname>&preset=<desired Preset position number>&user=<PTZ username>&pw=<PTZ cam password>
So this line should look like:
192.168.8.8:81/admin?camera=ptz&preset=3&user=hello&pw=world
Hit test and see if the camera moves
So I gave this a shot...and when clicking TEST it says "7878 bytes received"....any ideas?
