hi i have an ipcamera according to the bootdump its made by Hankvision. im using blueiris to stream these cameras and the problem im having is with rtsp the camera seems to delay really bad sometimes. it streams from the http server with no issues and the video is smooth as glass. but rtsp is very choppy and somtimes ends up with a huge 1 minute delay. ive been trying to use fiddler and wireshark to capture the url for the stream used in the web browser and the chineese CMS Viewer. cms viewer and the built in http server stream with no lag whatsoever. however rtsp seems to have alot of problems. btw this camera is rooted so im willing to try whatever to help improve this issue. what can i do about this laggy video? it seems to get alot worse when i zoom in only with rtsp . zooming with cms or the webpage is really smooth?!?!!??!?

is there anyone on here thats good with ida pro that can load the main app for this camera and change the rtsp buffer settings? lol. i have extracted the program and it contains tons of debugging info and the elf header. here is a link to the camera. i can also dump all of the libraries from the camera. 30X OPTICAL ZOOM 4" Size 4MP IP PTZ Dome Camera SONY CMOS ONVIF audio Card SLOT | eBay
Have you tried the rtsp stream in vlc? is it smooth there? increase the blue iris receive buffer to 20mb...what did you choose from the dropdown in blue iris?

in blueiris its set to rtsp/mpeg4. ive tried a lot of different buffer settings hell i have been at it for weeks with these cameras. ive used vlc on different computer and ive tried ispy and so many different ports/urls and it all seems to have this lag. sometimes its reallly bad. sometimes with blueiris it ends up being more than a minute behind with no record encode or anything. that same stream at the same time with vlc don't have the delay. when i pan left and right its mostly smooth most of the time but when i zoom in or out it freezes, skips, lags. when i watch it from internet explorer from the cameras https server or with cms viewer the cheap china dvr program it works perfect no lag delay or anything. according to wireshark the http server and cms viewer are requesting the video through tcp on port 90. in the camera port 90 is set to video port. but i havnt had any luck getting a stream from port 90 nor have i found anything in the firmware for port 90. but netstat on that camera show something is listening on it. the worst part is the ptz is constantly being used and th problem is making it impossible. hopefully someone else will get this camera and see jsut what im talking about

im sorry when i said "that same stream at the same time with vlc don't have the delay." i mean vlc was not a minute behind but it still had the zoom lag.

yea but all the components inside this camera are legit. it runs an amberella a7 cpu with a sony cmos. its built nice just this software sucks but leave it to china to screw up rtsp. its probably mirroring the image to china at the same time causing the delay im seeing lol

you failed to realize that the processor and imager alone do not make a good camera.....there are a million threads here with those type of "great cams"...

actually they make a great combination. dji has been using the same principal in their drones for a while now and they are running full inch 14mp sensors. ive checked the cpu load of the camera and thats not the issue.

what i need is somebody to reverse engineer the main app on this camera and fix the stream settings. you can download the sdk from hankvisions website, and on top of that hankvision left all of the debugging info there in the app im assuming on purpose. i doubt anyone is going to take the time but it was worth a try. i have 5 of these cameras so i can always copy the romfs off another camera in the event something goes wrong. i watched the startup log from the app and know exactly where it sets up the rtsp settings. riddle me this, why does it lag the worst when zooming in and out and no lag turning left and right. not to mention the ptz STMprocessor isolated from the camera itself. is it rapidly changing the resolution of the camera when zooming causing the issue?

Oh God, read my post again ...if you have shit firmware the hardware is irrelevant...yes you I'll certainly find someone to modify the firmware for you here...next time do some research and spend an extra hundred dollars on a known brand...but you know better.. good luck..

okay i figured it out. it was because when i zoom in or move the camera and the scene changes a lot or is really dark the camera kept changing the shutterspeed and the camera would go from 25fps to 7fps in a dark scene. so now i have the shutter setup right and the delay is 99% gone. im glad to see the problem resolved because i was pretty sure these cameras would be alright. and on the plus side not only can you download the sdk but also the pcb schematics so you can wire the 2 alarm ins and outs plus the audio in and out also you can put a sdcard in the camera if you take it apart. and the nightvision is really good. it looks like a huge spotlight when i rotate the camera and watch it from another camera. i can zoom in a couple hundred feet away at night and see crystal clear its really powerful night vision. especially for a $200 dollar camera

Mind sharing some day/night video clips just out of curiosity to see how good they look at wide and full zoom on moving objects?

well im not sure the easiest way to uplaod a video here but heres a couple of pictures with the shutter speed at 1/30 no WDR . at 1/15 its alot brighter but the camera wont run at any more than 10 fps at 1/15 or 1/20 so that wont work. i cant tell you that during the day it works great in mid-sorta fast moving scenes because i zoom in all the way and read license plates with it no problem all day.
