Looking for leads on bulk Cat5e cable suppliers. I’ve got multiple shopping center jobs coming up with 1,000’s of feet of runs at each center. Looking for as large as possible bulk rolls/spools. I can only seem to find 1,000ft spool boxes.

Thanks!

Where are you located? The problem with getting larger spools is shipping.

Appreciate the input, but I’m looking for bulk suppliers that can provide spools larger than 1,000 ft. I’ve got 1 project that alone will be using roughly 3,600 ft of runs with multiple projects lined up that are about the same size.

Thanks!
You are not going to run 1000 feet at a time....the wire will be cut and terminated...why would you want your guys lugging around heavy spools, makes no sense - even if they existed.

Correct, most are around 100-150ft runs, but with 24-48 camera runs at my upcoming jobs, that’s a lot of 1,000ft boxes...

Assuming there would be a discount for buying cable in say, 100,000 ft spools, we would be saving lots of money over the course of the 15 or so large jobs that we have over the next few years.

Also, assuming that a 1,000ft spool weights about 15lbs. a 100,000ft spool would weight only 150lbs. Easy to load up in a wheeled spool caddy to move around.

Thanks!

it will be a mess...one comp claim and all your savings are in the toilet...you can get a bulk discount if you buy 100x1000f boxes...dont prebuy your cable in large quantities like that..you may very well end up with lots of excess in storage...not worth the savings....even if you assume you will save 10 percent on 100k feet, that is less than 1000 dollars...is it worth the hassle? no...

If you're sloppy and wasteful that's no more than 10 boxes brother.

I see your point. Any suggestions for suppliers who provide bulk discounts on 100x1000ft boxes? Obviously I can Google search, but are there any suggestions from members?

You want to go with name brand cables...the worst thing you can do is go cheap on cable...bad cheap cable will cost a fortune in the long run...I have no idea who can give you a discount...you can contact monoprice and see if they will. ..i would also suggest you get a membership to www.ipvm.com and ask the installers there.

Then you definitely need one of these smiley17.gif ...

Call Belden Wire .
Very high grade cables made in USA. It will cost more but not as much as a failure due to cheap cable.

If you find 1000' foot spools/boxes that weight 15 lbs, make sure you're not getting CCA by accident. I weighed one of my cat 6, 24awg boxes and it was a bit north of 26 lbs.

24awg cat 6???
I figured that would be more relevant than weighing the 23awg kind since cat 5e is usually 24awg. All of my cat 6 is 23awg except for one box that's 24.
