Can Blue Iris be used to switch off interior cameras?

Dear community,
I am new to the universe of sec cam and am trying to decide whether to go with a common NVR or use Blue Iris.
One strong point for BI would be if it could be integrated with SmartThings. Specifically, could it be used to switch off interior security cameras once the front door is opened with a valid key code?
Anybody here has experience with this kind of integration?
Secondly, does somebody here use BI to monitor a swimming pool and send alarms?

Thanks a lot in advance!

There are several threads discussing smart things integration...
Blue iris wont be able to turn the cameras off since you need to kill power for that, but it can stop recording AND/or stop displaying the indoor cameras with the change of a profile - which can be dont via the mobile app, or via an http command when you integrate.
Alternatively, you can simply place all your indoor cams on the same poe switch and use a single smart plug or if you are powering locally, multiple smart plugs to kill the cameras when you are home.

For the pool you need a proper pool alarm - blue iris will not be accurate enough..

Blue iris is significanly better than a standalone NVR - regardless of integration..

Thanks for the feedback! In the meantime I have scanned through the forum on the ST side and found what I was looking for.
I will definitely try the POE switch idea.

That smart plug to PoE switch idea is cool! I will make a note of that for my future reference.

Great concept...wish I'd thought of that!

Agreed.

@JHS12 , does one have to enter a gate to use the pool?

The back yard is fenced off, the fence connecting to the house on both ends. It is also screened completely to off the bugs. The fence has a latched gate. You can also enter through our patio door and two bedroom doors

Unless I was concerned about on-site (non-trespassing) small children gaining access to the pool, I would likely just lock or monitor operation of the gate.

If there is unabated access to the pool by small children, that opens up a whole new topic, one beyond the intent of this forum, I think...but I agree with @fenderman in that to monitor the pool itself, I would use a pool alarm (of course BI could 'watch' too but not be your sole means of access alarm).
