I know, and I tried duplicating it with a re-boot. I understand there could be more than one explanation, but I have not ruled out that someone simply jostled it. The first position had been facing directly away from my neighbor's house. It would have been easy to lean over our porch and tap the top of the camera. I've since readjusted it so someone would have to be a contortionist to get it out of position or be in the camera's eye.

if someone intentionally re-positioned it, they likely would have moved it more or done more damage...the camera would also not have stopped streaming video...more likely is the camera glitched.

Ok -- thanks for the advice. And that this point, my wife has topped my paranoia, buying two new cameras and a microphone to keep an eye on our property.

Thats part of your problem...who cares about the camera video format..get a proper NVR or vms. You are trying to save a few dollars and as a result miss the video that you spent all the money on trying to capture. Reolink is complete garbage.
Format is important to me. I’m rarely on my home PC, so I need a mobile-friendly format that allows me to quickly scrub the videos. I tried it with Dahua, and it just didn’t suit my needs, even though it’s clearly a better camera.

any proper vms like milestone or blue iris will allow you to do that using their mobile app or webserver...mp4 cannot be viewed while its being written so you are already shooting yourself in the foot by not being able to review video immediately after it happens. You are going about this all wrong, trying to reinvent the wheel.

you say you tried rebooting the cam as a test, but HOW did you reboot it? from the UI, or just pull the plug? a power event would be more like pulling the plug and re-powering.
then again, it might have just been a quick brown-out (temporoarily lowered voltage on the mains) which would be hard to reproduce. any other devices around the house show signs of power issues (like the clock on the microwave)?...

I pulled the plug AND rebooted from the web interface. No other devices showed signs of a power failure. I also installed a new camera shortly after it happened to keep an eye on the PTZ and haven't had issues since.

Hi Jason,

Most certainly you've allowed someone on the internet access to the controls.... time to lock down your network and check the VPN notes here.

OK, so I am confused here.

Is this video from Jason's cameras? matt200, did you hack his camera? Or is this just an example as to what can happen?
