I am looking for info on the cheapest way to get a outdoor pir going for blue iris. I am new to blue iris, and have tried all sorts of zone crossing and stuff, and I still get lots of false alarms and missed alarms. I just can't get it dialed in. The camera in question is dahua and its pointed at the driveway, which is completely surrounds with large trees. The camera has no inputs for a hardwired pir. Anyways, I want to improve the motion detection accuracy with a pir, like a DSC lc-151 or interlogix DDI602U-F1, or another alarm based product designed to minimize false alarms. What do you recommend as the intermediary between blue iris and third party device, that is normally open or normally closed, like most pir sensors are?

Thanks,

Justin

giomania,
I have watched the videos and I have also learned through trial and error, that I would need several daylight hours profiles, to account for the sun location. At a minimum, I would need morning<sun in the east>, overhead, and afternoon<sun in the west>. Then I would need custom zones for each to account for different trees shadows that are in play or out of play, depending on where the sun is. Almost the entire camera view is encircled with large trees. I know this process will be really involved in the winter, when the trees loose their leaves. Also to make matters work, because of low ridge line behind my house, I get a constant breeze through the day.

fenderman,
thanks for the recommendations. I will research those options.
