After I try to export a clip to avi or mp4, I get the sound but no video. I'll attach a screenshot of the settings.

Did this ever get fixed as I'm having the same issue when exporting to MP4, whilst exporting to WMV works ok, albeit very slowly!

I noticed that sometimes the MP4's will play but that the video is black with audio playing. After checking the files with MediaInfo I can see that it has created a file with 2 video streams, the first of which is empty, hence no video on playback. If whilst playing this in VLC I right click, I can select the second video stream and then can see the recorded video.

Why is BI creating an MP4 with 2 video streams?

uncheck re-encode if you have it checked like in the OP.

Thanks for your quick response but that doesn't really solve the problem as the purpose of re-encoding is to reduce the file size of the export and allow footage to be retained for longer. The solution really is to fix encoding so that it doesn't add the extra empty video stream otherwise what is the point of even having the re-encode checkbox?

Its all part of troubleshooting. You dont even mention if doing so solves your problem. Guess you dont have time for all that. For the record, I can export and re-encode to mp4 with no issues and playback is fine. So we know the issue is on your end. Since you seem to have diagnosed the "problem" and already know the solution, why dont you simply email the blue iris developer and enlighten him about this non existent problem.

Yes, doing so does solve the problem as it doesn't re-encode, but I end up with a much larger which hasn't been rotated (as I need for this stream) and doesn't have text overlays applied. I don't just pay for a license, I'm happy also to provide any additional information that can help diagnose and fix the problem. This is running on a clean install of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with latest updates and the latest version of BI (4.8.2.1.x64). Nothing else runs on this machine.

Have you checked your MP4's with MediaInfo to see if there are 2 video streams? What other info / troubleshooting would be helpful?

It means I'd like to help make the software better by helping in whatever ever way I can - I don't just buy and demand it be improved.

Try installing the k-lite codec pack. Beware of bundled apps you don't want though.

I haven't seen this particular problem before but that codec pack solves several other problems with BI's mp4 handling so it is worth a shot.
