There's a lot of work getting a nice neat CCTV installation, isn't there !
A good few hours today spent relocating my main router and putting in the Cat6 cable for the secondary router that will act as a repeater for wifi -- I kinda thought that if I was going to all this trouble of installing a Blue Iris system I may as well have the internet install the way I want it.
So, I've relocated the Master router from the corner of the lounge to a more open location, not blocked by the TV and a lot higher - the wifi signal has improved considerably
I've acquired a second router (same make & model as the first) that I can set up as a repeater, but also will act as a 4-port 1 Gig switch at the opposite side of our home & also on the secondary level
And connecting them both, through 5 walls & 3 ceilings is 22 mtrs of freshly terminated & tested Cat 6 cable
This should give full mesh wifi coverage both throughout our home & allow for some of the external cams to be wifi
So I'm a happy bunny
For anyone interested I'm using AVM Fritz!box 3490 routers
