Video Quality .

Hello,
I've got a video of a Some unknown man walking up to door and then turning around. Im guessing a porch pirate. One of my Dahua pick up the Motion. Im using Blue Iris. I download the alert to get a better look at the man. To my surprise the video quality seems subpar. I can't make out the face. I would like the community to watch the video and see if I'm using the incorrect setting and or if the subject it just out of focus. Any help would be great.

you have a terrible camera angle and you either need more light or switch to IR.

thanks for commenting. Ill fix the angle. Im guessing its to far to the right. As far as the IR goes. Ive got the camera on auto. Should I force the camera to Night/IR at a certain time? Versus The camera logic .

What camera model is this? you can try playing with the exposure settings first. See threads on this. It may allow you to keep it in color with little blur. Also dont set the noise reduction too high.

play with the exposure first. See threads discussing it. but more importantly fix the angle. You can also use bp2008 tool to force night mode based on sunrise sunset if you end up needing to.

Ill read up on exposure. I was playing with day/night mode now. It looks the Camera won't switch to BW at night. Maybe there's just a bit too much light to cause it to stay in Daytime mode. I'll look into bp2008 if I have to. First thing tomorrow morning ill fix the angle.

I think your settings are about as good as can be achieved. There is enough ambient light that LED emitters won't help and you can stay in color mode.

The only avenues for improvement I can advise are the angle and position of the camera, and perhaps exposure settings. But usually going to manual exposure settings optimizes for one scenario and makes all the others terrible.

You can perhaps try turning down the 3D Noise Reduction, and make sure your framerate is at max.

max frame rates will do NOTHING to help blur. There is LOTS that can be done here. You need to start reading the threads that discuss this. Adjusting the exposure will not ruin all the other scenes. You have not experimented with this properly.

looks like 8.75 ft. Im also going to install another Camera on the opposite side of this one. So that I don't have to use a bad angle trying to cover the drive way.

In my opinion I would believe you want both.

First, you want a broad overview of the actions which the subject undertook whilst traversing the area of interest...but you also want to clearly see the subject's face. IMO you need (at least) two (2) cameras to accomplish this: camera #1 (mounted high, albeit at a much better angle as mentioned by @fenderman and others) with a wide focal view (2.xmm?...3.xmm?) to provide the broad overview of as much of the sequence of the subject's actions on the property being monitored...but also camera #2 (mounted lower with a 8mm?...12mm?...lens...this is where varifocal comes in so handy ) at a "choke point" (a location where the subject must pass) which will capture the subject face.

In my opinion it is very difficult to have one single camera provide all of the images which one may want or need. Ultimately, you want evidential video which provides both "what happened" along with "who did it."

Can you lower to 7 ft., say just above the light fixture and on the stucco?
