So, I guess as most people are, I've signed up because we are looking for a CCTV system, and I've been told that this is the best place to ask.

We've already got a Ring doorbell, which both my wife and I think is excellent (although as it's a Ring 1 the resolution could be better), and this very nicely covers the front of our house, and in particular, the front door.

However, the rest of the property wants protecting too, and my initial research suggest that a POE camera system would be ideal. I have a few hard wired network points that can be used to run cables around the house, as I put in 2 wherever I needed 1 point, in case I damaged one whilst doing the works on my house, and fortunately, they all work.

My initial research would also suggest that HIKvision would seem to be most people's preference on Brand (my Father in law has a Swann system, and I'm less than impressed with it, especially the phone app).

So, I'm looking for recommendations on a 4 camera POE system, which hopefully won't break the bank too much.....

Welcome to the forum!

Have a look at the WiKi, in the blue title bar, and read the Cliff Notesin there. Lots of information regarding camera placement, lens sizing and low light performance versus full light performance.

You get what you pay for (and how much effort you're willing to put into it) thumbsup.gif

Thankyou :)

And yes, I'm aware you get what you pay for, but also, like everyone else, I do have a budget. Others have mentioned (on other forums) that they've bought from Aliexpress as that's much cheaper than UK, but that it has to be done with care, as you don't want foreign versions you can't update....

All that is discussed in the cliff notes.
