I been running BlueIris 4 since it was released and it was using about 800Mb of memory, but for the past month it has been using about 1.8Gb of memory.

I'm using a Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p i7-47700 machine with 24gb of memory and running Win7 with 10 cameras.
The only thing I have changed is that I added two Hikvision cameras to the set-up a DS-2CD2632F-IS and DS-2CD2032-I.

It still runs ok but is this normal, 1.8Gb of memory seem rather a lot?.

Thanks for info, I tried installing an older version and it still used the same amount of memory.

So it not a problem with my setup its normal.

Cheers.

That seems low wih 24GB of total memory. I have 16GB in my system. Not sure what BI4 uses but I average around 5GB to 6GB of memory in use for the entire system.
The only time I will use all the memory is when I put content on a BD or DVD

The total memory used is usually around 7GB to 10GB on my system. Of which BI4 uses 1.6GB to 2.0GB and no other program even comes close to it in memory usage

There are many factors that contribute to memory use in BI..for example pretrigger frames, number of cams etc...since we a dealing with large amounts of video data im not surprised...regardless, if you have 24gb and only using 10, it doesnt really matter...

I know it doesn't really matter it just that BI4 is less stable and has been crashing a lot more now its using more memory. I sure Ken will fix it, just have to wait.

If BI is crashing, if you havent already done so, you should email ken with the info so he can work on it.

I don't want to bother Ken at the moment when he's busy fixing other bugs.

I will contact him but after I install windows 10 on my BI4 machine. I'm hoping that will fix most of the problems I've been having with BI4 on windows 7.

I managed to get the memory use down to 1.3GB and no crashes for two days, and CPU is now at 36-41% and maxing out at 89%. It was maxing out to 98%. I lowered the Pre-trigger frame buffer size on the two new Hikvision cameras.

Seems to be back to a stable system again. :-)

I purchased a second BI4 license a few days ago since there is still a nice 50% discount on it. Both machines I'm using BI4 on use Windows 8.1 64bit. BI4 has worked great on them. Both machines have 16GB of total memory.

My primary BI4 machine uses around 2GB of memory for BI4. The secondary one uses around 1.3GB of memeory for BI4. . But I only have that accessing six cameras while my main BI4 machine accesses all fourteen cameras.
