Here is the latest new Catlog for Q1,

There has 2 new models SD22204T-GN will be replaced by the new model SD22204UE-GN, SD29204T-GN will be replaced by SD29204UE-GN, all use the Starlight technology.

For the NVR all updated to support 4K and h.265. And easy to check the difference for different series NVR easily through this file.

When we get the new stock, will get some to test.

Is Starlight+ new for IP cams? Looks like their minimum lux ratings are better than Starlights.

Looks like they're using Starlight+ on some of the models with the 8MP 1/1.8" sensor too.

With this model, only the 1/3s,30IRE minimum lux rating is better than a regular Starlight.

The IPC-HFW1831E , IPC-HFW2831T-ZS, IPC-HDB2831R-ZE, these 3 models are all come with very sharp pics DAY and night.

Thanks for giving us the update. A couple of questions:

1. THE HFW2831T-ZS & 1831E don’t show Starlight on the Dahua site so has something changed in the specs of those listed in the PDF ? Understand it could be just an error as all other stats appear the same, just weird that Starlight designation as never added to that previously.
2. The 2831T-ZS shows Starlight+ how is that different from Starlight ?
3. Lastly the 1831E Lorex equivalent LNB9232 has built in Mic, are the Dahua’s available with a built in mic for the 1831E ?
4. Any rumors of an x831 Turret / Eyeball ?

Lorex does not provide the sensor size for the 9232 so there is no way to know its the same camera.

@fenderman you are absolutely right and I should have stated 'assumed equivalent'. I know when you compare specs (that we do know and or see through UI selection etc) for those of us with these Lorex are incredibly close but sensor size confirmation is important. Similarly my assumed equivalent of the LNB8963 is the IPC-HFW5831E-ZE. Caveat being that the Lorex's also have the IVS etc stripped out.

It looks like Dahua has made their DSS VMS free to use for 64 channels. Supports IVS and face recognition.

Thanks @bigredfish. @EMPIRETECANDY can you confirm that the 1831 & 2831 are Starlight+ (Only see the 2831 in the catalog and the website doesn’t mention Starlightn either) and the difference between Starlight & Starlight+ ? Couldn’t find anything through search that explains the difference for IP cams. Thanks

Kudos to Andy and the rest talking about new cams. If you Google "IPC-HDB2831R-ZE" all you get is THIS THREAD! Seems @EMPIRETECANDY really has connections at Dahua. By the time you read this, info on this cam may be more abundant. Let's hope so.

I am currently comparing Lorex cameras LNB9232, LNB8973, LNB8921 etc. to Dahua. It is apparent that Lorex is intentionally vague with the specification or "fudges" the number slightly, so it is impossible to do a direct comparison. From what I can tell the models listed above are "mostly comparable" as follows:

LNB9232 ~= 1831E minus audio.
LNB8973 ~= 5831E minus audio
LNB8921 ~= 4831E

Some of the packaged kits such as the Lorex 4KHDIP86NV with 6x LNB8973 cameras ($920 US, $1241 CAD shipped) is hard to beat if your are OK with the lack of IVS features, no audio or 0.06 Lux sensitivity. Those kits do also include 100' of low grade CAT5e per camera and 2TB HDD.
The big deal for me as a Canadian is the difference in price due to the horrible USD-CAD exchange rate. Lorex is a Canadian company and the pricing is less sensitive to the change rate.

For higher end cameras, starlights and precise selection of equipment, it seems that purchasing cameras from Andy is definitely the way to go as the Lorex branded units LNB9272'S are $1000 US each! I think the comparable IPC-HFW2831T-ZAS is <$200.

Let me know if I'm way off base with my assessment.

Also, anyone know how Trump's new rules on banning Dahua and Hikvision equipment will affect the demand/pricing.

Yes you are off base. There is no way for you to know for example that the 9232 uses the same sensor as the 1831 because lorex refuses to provide that info. For many, standalone nvrs are useless so 6 2831's are a better deal. Your night video with those kit cams will look like crap.

I completely agree with you fenderman.
They appear similar but could be completely different.
It is annoying that resellers are so vague with specifications.
The only way to really determine the difference it to do a real world side by side comparison actual video as spec’s don’t always tell the whole story.
I highly doubt that Lorex uses a better senso to justify the 5x cost.

Thanks for quickly shipping this Andy. While it does not have built in IR, it will be used in an area with external IR. It uses the same mount as a 5231, so for testing purposes it will be a simple remove and replace.
